Chelsea fan who ran onto pitch at Southampton game to snap selfie with Marcos Alonso is handed three-year ban

A FAN who ran onto the pitch at Saints’ clash with Chelsea in a bid to snap a selfie has been banned from football matches for three years. 

A court heard how Tyler Reed, 24, intruded onto the pitch during the match on April 9 this year. 

Running to the centre circle, the Chelsea fan then lost his footing as he attempted to take a selfie on Snapchat with Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso.

Reed was grabbed by stewards who hauled him off the pitch to jeers from the home fans. 

Once away from the playing field, police arrested him and took him in for questioning, but he chose to make no comment on the incident. 

Appearing at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, he pleaded guilty to having entered the field of play during the match.
